Bespoke is derived from the term bespeak. Bespeak is a verb that means "to speak for something." This is not how we recognise the word. The word has evolved to be regularly employed as an adjective throughout time. This did not happen overnight, but rather over the course of several modifications. Continuing as a verb, bespoke came to signify 'to debate.' This became an adjective to describe something that had been previously discussed. This shift in meaning is how the term "bespoke" came to be associated with custom-made apparel and accessories. The customer would negotiate their garment specs in advance, and the tailor would create it to those standards.
